In case you missed the news, Target and TOMS will be teaming up this holiday season to bring customers a limited edition collection benefiting both TOMS One for One initiative and FeedingAmerica.
As far as partnerships go, Target is known for adding holiday help – Neimen Marcus famously joined the brand in 2013 for a collection deemed too expensive for Target’s core audience of affluent, cost-conscious young women. Unlike Neiman Marcus, however, the TOMS brand resonates with this audience.
For the limited few of you unfamiliar with the TOMS brand promise, the One for One movement provides a pair of shoes for children in need for every pair purchased. For the rest of us, the reason so many have heard of the movement is because TOMS customers don’t shy away from sharing the story. On Target’s end, the partnership with FeedingAmerica has lasted over a decade, but lacks the fire of One for One.
Together, both Target and TOMS will be able to expand their audience and focus on the season of giving. As the press release states:
For each item purchased from TOMS x Target collection from 11.16.2014 – 03.12.2015 in US Target stores and target.com, one of the following will be donated or given: (I) by Target: $3 (the monetary equivalent of one week of meals for someone in need; $1 = 9 meals secured by Feeding America® on behalf of local food banks) to Feeding America FeedingAmerica.org; or $5 (the monetary equivalent of one blanket) to American Red Cross Disaster Relief redcross.org; or (II) by TOMS: TOMS will give one pair of new shoes (which may differ in value from the shoes purchased) to a child in need
The collection includes clothing for men and women, exclusive designs of TOMS classic
Will you be buying anything from the Target + TOMS collection? Personally, I’m eyeing these cable knits…
