Weekend Recap: Fright Fest, Furniture and Fones!

I know phone is spelt with an PH. Alliteration, people.

Here in St. Louis, fall weekends are simply magical – high in the low 70s, lows in the low 50s, sun shine during the day and a cool breeze at night. Leaves are just starting to change, and Halloween is around the corner.

It’s well-documented that Halloween is my favorite holiday. I love pumpkins, ghost decor, trick-or-treating, dressing up…you name it. However, it’s been YEARS since I’ve visited a haunted house. Between the ever-increasing prices and the unfortunate focus on clowns, it just hasn’t worked out for me. But this year, we made it a point to visit Six Flags St. Louis Fright Fest, and it was an absolute BLAST.

We showed up to the park around 3pm, giving us enough time for rides before things got spooky. After needing a back realignment from the original coasters, Ninja and Screamin’ Eagle, we got ready to be scared. All-in-all, we visited five of the six available haunted houses, and it was a BLAST. My roommates did make me walk through the clown area, where I successfully jumped a foot just having a clown walk behind me with zero effort to scare me. If you go, be sure to visit the haunted houses in this order:

  1. Night Terrors
  2. The Slaughterhouse
  3. Blind Fury
  4. Wrecker’s Salvage: Deadly Detour*
  5. Camp Killamore**

*Only ranked because it’s a hayride, and after walking 16k steps, you’ll want to sit down.
**Just skip it.
***We did not visit Blackout because I hate the dark.

After sleeping late Sunday (seriously, I can’t tell you the last time I stayed out past midnight), I went on my standard Target run. I only had a return to make, but ran into the Target Mobile guy, James, who I’ve been seeing weekly since I preordered my iPhone 7 Plus. I went ahead and asked if it had come in, to which he said no, “but I’ve got one in another color if you want it.” UH, YEAH! An hour later, I was the proud owner of an iPhone 7 Plus in matte black.

We then headed to my namesake furniture store to look for a new living room set and a farmhouse table.

Ever since we bought our house, Andy wanted a recliner.

Ever since we started finishing our basement, I’ve wanted a farmhouse table.

This could only end one way.

Delivery is on November 4, and I’ll be sure to share pictures once complete!
